New: exo253ZU3 with 12 MP, USB and polarized sensor
The polarized sensor IMX253MZR from Sony simplifies many tasks in image processing. SVS-Vistek has already demonstrated some applications that would otherwise only be possible with incomparably more effort. The new exo253ZU3 from SVS-Vistek now has this special sensor with 12 megapixel resolution.
New technology
Sony applies a matrix of polarizing filters directly to the IMX253MZR sensor pixel with different orientations (0°, 90°, 45° and 135°) on each 2x2 pixel array.
This has the advantage that the polarization amount and the polarization angle can be measured in one single shot together with light intensity.
Areas of application
Automated image processing with the help of polarization measurement makes sense above all for non-metallic objects, as the effort in the subsequent image processing is considerably reduced in many applications with this technology. It will become important for all integrators who deal with surface control, reflections and transparent materials (water, Plastic, glass) or otherwise difficult to solve problems (e.g. black writing on black tires).
Models and Interfaces
Cameras with polarized sensors and C-mounts are currently available in 5 MP and 12 MP resolutions. The new exo253ZU3 with 12 MP from SVS-Vistek is equipped with the IMX253MZR sensor from Sony and an USB3 interface and delivers a frame rate of 30 fps.
Its little sister, the exo250ZU3 from SVS-Vistek, with a resolution of 5 MP delivers a frame rate of 75 fps.
All of these cameras are also available in series with a Gigabit Ethernet interface.
