The EXO family is a powerful industrial camera platform with resolutions from 2.3 to 31 megapixels. The newest member of the EXO family with USB3 interface is the exo428xU3 with a resolution of 7.1 megapixels. With this and the aspect ratio of almost 3: 2 (3208 x 2200 pixels), the camera is the modern, powerful alternative CMOS to the old ICX695 CCD sensor. At full resolution, it provides a frame rate of 51.4 fps, which is the maximum readout speed of the sensor.

Superior image quality

The sensitive, 4.5 x 4.5 µm pixel offers the low readout noise and the excellent quantum efficiency of the Sony Pregius series (3rd generation). The size of the pixel ensures a high saturation capacity. The resulting dynamic range is impressive. The large pixel also makes it easier to select lenses which is a sensor size of 1.1". The camera has a global shutter and is available in monochrome or colour. The significantly improved NIR sensitivity compared to the ICX695 also deserves special emphasis.

I/O module for rapid integration

The camera comes with a high-quality industrial feature set that includes 8 and 12-bit color depth, ROI, binning, offset and look-up tables. The exo428xU3 has all the I/O capabilities of the EXO series. Particularly noteworthy is the integrated multi-channel strobe controller, which makes an external controller for lighting control not necessary anymore in most cases. Other features include a highly flexible, integrated sequencer, logic module and PLC-compatible 24V inputs and outputs.

Many fields of application

Nowadys, resolutions between 6 and 12 MP are standard for automated image processing in metrology, microscopy, automation, food and biometrics. Especially the automation and food sectors will benefit from high frame rates. The high light sensitivity makes the camera well suited for applications in microscopy, while food and biometrics benefit from the increased NIR sensitivity.

The camera is available now.
